Being a Monday morning, I remember how I hated Mondays back in my primary school days. Teachers used me as an example to describe sadness. Once as I was passing past a class 4 class I heard the teacher tell the kids:
‘‘Mnajua maana ya kununa na kufura kama nandazi ya Kangari? Wewe angalia tu Gichini wa class Six utajua! (Do you know the true meaning of being sad? Just look at Gichini in Class Six and you’ll know how a sad face looks like!”
Many guys wondered why I was always in a gloomy mood. I always avoided such questions. Deep down, I always felt frustrated. Frustrated by all aspects of life. Whenever I saw a teacher, I used to panic for no good reason. I never participated in any co-curricular activity. I rarely associated with my fellow pupils. I thought that they despised me.
The good thing with me, is that I used to pass well in all my exams. I always led in class but still people wondered why I was such introverted while other sharp kids bragged.
A teacher by the name, Joel Mathenge took special concern in me and trained me to accept myself as I was and use my academic results as a reason to smile daily and cheer up!
From then I was a transformed individual.
